Neuropathic pain afflicts more than 10 million people in the US alone and the incidence is set to increase significantly. Sales of prescription drugs for neuropathic pain are over $5 billion and at 7% annual growth, it is one of the most rapidly-growing segments of the pain market.

Traxion has leveraged its relationships with both local and international groups to build a portfolio of small molecule, mechanism-based products for the treatment of neuropathic pain. These products are:

TXT-0200 orally active N-type calcium channel antagonist

Late-preclinical, novel, orally active drug which blocks the Cav2.2 (N-type calcium channel) receptor. TXT-0200 has shown promising analgesic activity in several animal models of neuropathic pain. Compared to gabapentin, TXT-0200 provides more potent analgesic activity with few behavioral side effects. Preliminary pharmacokinetic, safety and toxicology studies have been done and patents filed.

TXT-0400 – highly potent TRPV1 antagonist

Preclinical, novel, orally active dug which is TRPV1 receptor antagonist. Has shown particularly potent activity in animal models of chronic and inflammatory pain. More potent than COX-2 NSAIDs with minimal side effects. Preliminary pharmacokinetic, safety and toxicology studies have been done and patents filed.
